SCIENTIFIC AND RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

what we do ?

The research work of the scientific staff of the NBE involves working on projects supported by national and international donor institutions, with the Foundation, Faculty or Institute acting as the lead/coordinator of the respective project or project partner, whereas the teaching staff is actively involved in carrying out the foreseen research activities.

The research field of the NBE's scientific and research activities, as well as its teaching staff, is particularly focused on business education and promotion of entrepreneurship, labor market research and regional and local economic development. Since its establishment NBE‘s staff has been working on a number of projects which besides theoretical also have offered practical solutions that over the years have proven productive for all stakeholders, especially the high school students in R. Macedonia Macedonia, as well as the units of local self-government (ULSG). The Table given below lists the most important projects where the NBE/IBF/IBI had the role of Project coordinator, project partner or individual involvement of the teaching staff as a research capacity.

Short summary of the project: The primary goal of the project is to raise awareness in the Units of Local Self-Government in Macedonia for investing in energy efficiency and sustainable development projects, as well as implementing legal requirements in these fields. Project activities included organizing a number of workshops and trainings and creating 17 preliminary feasibility studies in public institutions in Macedonia.
Waste management and the opportunity of using waste as a renewable energy source 01.09.2011 - 31.06.2012, Macedonia Research capacity
Short summary of the project: The primary goal of the project is to introduce the young population in high schools with the opportunities and positive aspects of waste usage as a renewable energy source and the efficient waste management. For that purpose, 20 trainings in 20 high schools in Macedonia were organized.
Promotion of regional development policies in Macedonia - sharing the German and Slovenian experiences 01.07.2012 - 31.12.2012, Macedonia Coordinator
Short summary of the project: The primary goal of the project is to conduct a research on the opportunities and capacities in the field of regional development in Macedonia, through sharing relevant practices from developed European countries. For that purpose, a public policy paper was created, which has set the research standards in this field in Macedonia.

Short summary of the project: The primary goal of the project is to raise the level of entrepreneurial knowledge in high school students, with the particular focus of preparation and structuring a business plan.

Energy efficient local self-government 01.01.2013 - 31.12.2013, Macedonia Research capacity
Short summary of the project: The primary goal of the project is to raise awareness for energy efficiency in units of local self-government in Macedonia. Thermo-graphic studies for 23 municipalities have been prepared and over 260 public institutions have been included.
Workshop for energy efficiency for builders (Build-Up Skils – Builders’ Energy Efficiency Training) 01.07.2014 - 01.03.2016, Macedonia Partner
Short summary of the project: The primary goal of the project coordinated by the Macedonian Chamber of Commerce was to implement a previously voted EU initiative in Macedonia, with the purpose of faster achievement of the energy goals, by direct involvement in the building sector. The role of the Integrated Business Faculty was to conduct a series of workshops within this project.
Possibilities and perspectives on the labor market - Specialized study on the Vardar Planning Region 01.08.2016 – 01.10.2016 Vardar Planning Region, Macedonia Partner
Short summary of the project: The Integrated Business Faculty, within a project from IPA (component IV), conducted a scientific research of the opportunities offered by the private sector in the Vardar Planning Region, and the cross-over of supply and demand in the labor market in this region. The shortcomings were identified, and measures to overcome them were suggested by this research.
Innovative Strategic Partnership for European Higher Education (ISPEHE) 01.01.2015 - 01.01.2016 Macedonia, Slovenia, Latvia, Italy Research capacity
Short summary of the project: The primary goal of the project is to create an integrated and innovative access to entrepreneurial education and create a link between higher education institutions and companies for development of practical learning directions, through the development of an innovative web platform and an integrated Career Center. The goal is to create a sustainable innovative improvement of the already successfully implemented approaches in all partnering institutions, and create a long term strategic model which will successfully function after the completion of the project. The project is conducting by partnering with the University of Pavia, Italy; The faculty of administration (University of Ljubljana), Slovenia; Faculty of economics and culture, Latvia and the Technical University in Riga, Latvia.
Stategic Partnership for Innovation and Development of Entrepreneurship (SPIDE) 01.01.2017 - 01.01.2018 Macedonia, Slovenia, Latvia, Germany Research capacity
Short summary of the project: The primary goal of the project is to increase the usage of innovative approach and practices in improving the quality of education programs og higher education institutions, through increasing international cooperation in the area of entrepreneurship and management. Specific goals include: increase of practical experiences of students through organizing a strain of activities in the newly-founded Career Centers in each of the partnering institutions; creating innovative ICT solutions to enable students to acquire practical experiences through virtual case studies; exchange of best practices among top European higher education institutions. The project is conducted by partnering with The Faculty of administration (University of Ljubljana), Slovenia; Faculty of economics and culture, Latvia; University of applied sciences, Kehl, Germany.
Introduction of modern learning methods in Macedonia using Italian experiences (INLEARN) 15.01.2020 - 15.10. 2020 Macedonia, Italy Partner
Short summary of the project: The primary goal of the project is to transfer knowledge and experience relating methodology and application of the system for e-learning from the University of Modena, Italy, to the Integrated Business Faculty. The project comprises of two phases: 1) Research, evaluation, further upgrade of the e-learning systems currently in use on both institutions and 2) research on the infrastructure needed and the preconditions for application of a system for distant learning and transfer of knowledge for it from the University of Modena to the Integrated Business Faculty.

All of the above activities are aimed at both, continuous development and strengthening of the institutional capacity, as well as the individual capacities of the teaching/researching staff at the Foundation/Faculty/Institute.
